This white wine with great personality was obtained with cross Manzoni 6.0.13 grapes (Pinot White Riesling), obtained from the vineyard located in the town of Castelli Calepio. The careful vinification with a slight cold maceration allowed to bring flavor and texture of the grapes into the wine. The color looks yellow, scented pronounced aromatic notes of tropical fruit, the full-bodied and fruity with a slight mineral aftertaste. The high alcohol content makes this wine one of outstanding features and versatility. Excellent with fish and shellfish, it can also hold the first and second courses if they are are not too spicy. Sampled in 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
Valcalepio Bianco D.O.C.
Valcalepio Bianco is a D.O.C. wine like the red version and is a blend of Pinot bianco and Pinot grigio grapes from vineyards in Torre de’ Roveri. The white winemaking method and fermentation a low temperature give this wine its delicate fruity aroma and dry almondy flavour which is excellent with starters, first courses and fish dishes.
Merlot della Bergamasca
This wine has a strong, decisive character and is made from Merlot grapes typical of the Bergamo hills. Its garnet red colour and clearly defined herbaceous aroma, with a smooth but decisive flavour and fragrant aftertaste, make this wine an ideal accompaniment for everyday meat dishes.
Cabernet della Bergamasca
Cabernet della Bergamasca is made exclusively with selected Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the municipality of Torre de’ Roveri. Careful vinification at a controlled temperature maintains their typical herbaceous aroma and the smooth delicate flavour which makes this a classy wine, to be drunk above all with roast meats and game.
Valcalepio Rosso
A D.O.C. (denominazione d’origine controllata) wine from the Bergamo area, Valcalepio Rosso is made from Merlot and Cabernet grapes grown in the municipality of Torre de’ Roveri. The grapes undergo separate vinification and then, during the course of the winter, the Bordeaux type blending takes place.
The nose contains a carefully measured mixture of vanilla aromas with fresh fruity perfumes. Its firm, dry flavour makes it a perfect accompaniment for roast red meats and game.
Valcalepio Rosso Riserva D.O.C.
Valcalepio Rosso Riserva is made with 40% Merlot grapes and 60% Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the municipality of Torre de’ Roveri; the natural alcohol content is 12% vol. The grapes undergo separate vinification in order to obtain the best possible organoleptic characteristics with fermentation at a controlled temperature and then during the winter the Bordeaux type blending takes place, after which the maturation period begins. This takes place partly in barriques and partly in 20 hectolitre Allier oak barrels and lasts 12-28 months; it is followed by assemblage and bottling. The wine is matured in the bottles for six months before drinking.
The wine is ruby red in colour, with morello cherry fruit with notes of spice and vanilla in the nose; on the palate it is dry and tangy with excellent structure. Recommended serving temperature is 20°C. It is an ideal accompaniment for red meats, game and mature cheeses.
Valcalepio Moscato Passito D.O.C.
The jewel in the crown of Bergamo wine-making, Valcalepio Moscato Passito is made with Moscato di Scanzo grapes grown in the municipality of Torre de’ Roveri, and dried on rush mats in dry, airy lofts.
Vinification, which takes place about two months after the harvest, and the slow fermentation at a low temperature during the winter, bring out all the typical primary aromas with typical overtones of sage and rose. The high alcohol content balanced by the sugar residue make this a really interesting, sincere and enjoyable wine, ideal for serving at the end of a meal instead of liqueurs.
